The synthesis, structure, and powder SHG properties of Bi2TeO5 are reported. The NLO measurements indicate that Bi2TeO5 is not phase-matchable, with a doubling efficiency of 300 times crystalline SiO2. In addition, the average NLO bond susceptibility, , is approximately 9.56 pm/V.
